There are some jobs that are tougher on the body than other jobs. Construction work is one of those jobs. People who work construction often find that they’re having a tough time keeping up with the work as they age. This puts them at greater risk of injury on the job. During Business Construction

It can be a huge headache when your place of business is under construction. Follow these tips to make it easier on everyone in the office:

Put a plan in place. Make sure that you work with your construction workers to put a clear plan in place for the project. This plan should have a timeline with measurable milestones.
Clear out as much of the space as possible. Move everyone into just a few offices during the construction. Put extra office furniture into self storage units. Try to make as much space available as possible during this time.
Lower your expectations. You aren’t going to get as much done during the construction as you normally do so just don’t expect to.
Hold an out-of-office retreat. Business retreats are a great way for companies to enhance teamwork. Doing one when there’s construction going on in the office anyway makes a lot of sense.
Know what to do in case of an emergency. Make sure that you understand how to handle emergencies (and how worker’s comp is going to work) just in case something goes wrong during the construction.

The construction process isn’t always fun. However, it doesn’t have to be a big deal either. Adjust your attitude and plan for the problems and the whole thing should be fine.

Gravel screeners on Craigslist?

In an attempt to save a few bucks and move my business forward during these tough times, I decided to check out craigs list gravel screeners to see if we might be able to find equipment for the company. Well I certainly found several gravel screening machines, however what I did not expect was the real shape they would be in after I had one delivered to me.

Portable gravel screening processing equipment does some pretty gritty work. Tons and tons of sand, dirt, gravel, rock and more get processed every day on your average gravel screeners.

Now I’m not new in this business but I should have known better. Both new & used screening gravel processing equipment has to be checked out. Tubes, hoses, hydraulics, oils, fluids, and a number of other mechanical aspects have to be right if the machine is going to perform at optimal levels. Well I apparently did not check my used machine very well, because in less than a week’s time not only did it break down, but it was out of commission completely.

Now I had to go back and get another gravel screener. This time I was going to be smart about it and look into the great machines built by EZ Screen.

Solving the Problem with Cars Crashing into Old Barriers

State officials needed to find a solution. Why were drivers prone to crashing into traditional road barriers? The concrete crowd control barriers were causing a large problem in upstate South Carolina. The damage from these was often severe and the associated injuries seemed to be more devastating than need be. It looked as if a jersey barrier could be the answer. Since these were more easily seen by drivers at night or in poor weather, and they could be filled with water to lessen the potential damage from an impact, these were the logical solution. They could also be used during times when the temperatures got below freezing.

These protective barriers are sold online by a company which also specializes in selling various other temporary barriers and equipment for crowd control. Their efforts go beyond using the convenience of the Internet for sales, but in providing access to equipment that does save lives and promotes the general safety for all. It’s certainly a good thing if one company and the organizations that take advantage of their product can make a difference in the traffic statistics on roads around the country or even the world.

Constant Construction

I have never lived in an area that always had as much freeway construction as they have in Colorado Springs. I chose to live here because fifteen years ago, it was a nice little town near the big town of Denver, so I had the best of both worlds. Now, however, I’m going nuts!

I-25 is the main freeway that connects us to the rest of the world and for the last five years, it’s been under construction. I have no idea what they are doing because there are so many trucks, barracades and cones that it’s hard to see what progress they’ve made. I know construction is hard work and I feel for the people who are out there doing the work, but I’d feel better about the whole thing if it was actually improving my quality of life (or at least improving my drive time) but this is not the case. I moved from LA to get away from such craziness, but now it’s like deja vous all over again!
