People believe or at least tend to believe that smoking is a form of relaxation or a stress buster; however the so called relaxing feeling of nicotine wears off shortly leaving a person with a very harmful and costly habit or to put it in other words, an addiction. Cigarette smoke prevents gums from receiving all necessary nutrients, making them weaker and eventually resulting in inadequate periodontal support for your teeth.. About 18-year-old smokers lose 5 teeth before they turn 35. Smoking slows down the healing as inhaling the smoke prevents blood from circulating openly in the gums and mouth.

The damage smoking does to the physical appearance of a person is beyond repair as nicotine has negative effect on blood circulation. A person’s skin and hair suffer first when the nutrients don’t arrive there in enough quantities. The skin changes colour into a paler and duller shade, and hair start breaking and getting thinner. The effect takes a few years, so many smokers don’t attribute their hair issues to smoking, but in truth the only reason for hairs breaking ups is the smoke.

So to put an end to all these strange and disastrous effects that is caused by smoking cigarettes, one has to give up smoking as soon as possible, before it’s too late. I am an avid reader of Angela Hoy’s WritersWeekly.com, a weekly newsletter for (you guessed it) writers.  Last week she wrote about the problem with deadbeats – publishers and clients who stiff writers (often deliberately) by taking their work and not paying them for it.

This problem seems to be quite common in the writing industry.  I myself am still owed more than $300 from a client who published my articles last year.  As is the case with many of these deadbeat publishers, his excuse was that he was going to have to declare bankruptcy, because he didn’t even have the money to pay his own bills, let alone his business’s.

The thing is, your financial situation can’t possibly get to this point overnight.  There are a lot of things that lead up to this kind of thing.  And that’s why, as a business owner, it’s your responsibility to look into debt consulting services when you first begin to notice the signs, BEFORE you start owing writers money.  Not to mention, you need to stop hiring more people when you can’t afford to pay the ones you’ve already got!  Just because you are having financial problems doesn’t give you the right to ruin someone else’s finances by not being able to pay them when they are expecting a paycheck.

So, business owners, be kind to your employees, and seek help when you need it.  If you are proactive about it, you might be able to salvage your business  using business debt reduction tactics — but even if you can’t, it is still your responsibility to do the moral thing and make sure you only work your employees for as long as you can afford to pay them!

There is a lot of debate as to whether there is any such thing as a paperless office.  Perhaps this is an ideal we can never truly achieve, but I do believe it’s something worth striving for.  I mean, just because you can’t achieve perfection doesn’t mean you give up trying and settle for crap, right?  So why shouldn’t we at least get as close to paperless as we possibly can?

If you are going to try for a paperless office, the first thing you need to do is scan and get rid of existing paperwork.  That sends the message that it’s no longer allowed.  If you don’t have the scanners or manpower to do this yourself, you might benefit by hiring a document imaging service to do it for you.

Another thing you need is to make sure your machines can handle all of the digitized paperwork.  You might want to install a network with a shared hard drive, if you don’t already have one, so that your employees can all access the paperwork at any time.  Also if you have a lot of paperwork to digitize, you might also want to conssider looking into some sort of management software to keep track of it all.

Once you get all the existing paperwork scanned, you might want to consider investing in some high quality scanners so that you can keep it up as you get more paperwork in.  You will probably also need a PDF writer so that you can create and send documents in PDF instead of on paper.

The beauty of it is, with just a few tools such as these you can save a ton of money on paper, printer ink, and postage — not to mention you can save tons of trees and save landfills from getting quite as much paper trash as they were before.

A dehumidifier contains heating and cooling coils and fins. Warm moist air, such as in a basement is drawn over these coils and fins by a fan that is in the dehumidifier. As the warm air is drawn over the coils the water vapor condenses and collects on the cooling coils and fins. The condensed water vapor then drips off of the cooling coils and fins, and into either a drain pan or a drip hose that flows into a sink, bucket or sump pump well.

During the process of condensing the water vapor, the water vapor normally produces enough heat to prevent the cooling coils from freezing up. However when there is a lack of humidity in the room or the temperature is too cool in the room, there is the potential for the dehumidifier to freeze up. The threat is exacerbated if the cooling coils are covered in dirt and dust.

To prevent the dehumidifier from freezing up there a few things you can do. First, if the humidity is low then turn off the dehumidifier. Alternatively you can cycle the dehumidifier off and on every few hours. This will allow the cooling coils to warm up and melt any ice that could be forming on them. Second, you can raise the temperature in the room to lower the risk of ice formation in the dehumidifier. Third, make sure the cooling coils and fins are free of dirt and dust. Finally, make sure the dehumidifier is up off the floor of the basement or room. Warm moist air rises and cool dry air falls. By raising the dehumidifier up off the floor the dehumidifier will work more efficiently and it will have less chance of freezing up.
